About Diagnostics Chippenham
Modern day vehicles are covered in hundreds of sensors constantly monitoring and reporting back the vehicles ECU(s) (Electronic Control unit). The ECU(s) act like the brain of a car. In the event a sensor is not reading correctly or within the set parameters, this usually brings on a warning light. Sometimes the vehicle will put itself into a Restricted Performance Mode or Limp Home Mode, which it does to protect itself against damage but allows you to drive to safety.

So, the car tells you exactly what’s wrong?
Sadly, it isn’t that simple. This is where our comprehensive equipment and expertise come in to interrogate the vehicle, through its On-Board Diagnostic port, to find the source of your fault. We have main dealer level equipment and many years’ experiences, so your vehicle is in safe hands with us!

More on Diagnostics
The sensors on your vehicle are situated from the road wheels to the engine and beyond, all of which communicate through the vehicle’s Central Area Network (CAN) bus. The CAN-Bus operates similarly to the human nervous system, whereby faults are alerted to it, then reported back to the brain (in a vehicle’s case the ECUs). You can see this explained in the video.
